Nowadays, energy conservation and environmental protection have become the main theme, and various clean energy sources are increasingly emerging.
However, thermal power generation still dominates among various types of power generation. Coal is still very common in this type of power generation, and coal-fired power plants are still a stable source of electricity now.
In today's context of dwindling coal resources, it is crucial to "make good use of coal". However, due to the large size of coal storage silos in coal-fired power plants, the complexity of the process, and the complexity of the coal conveying system, challenges arise in level measurement due to high temperatures, steam, and strong dust.
RETTAR develops a variety of radar level products with excellent performance, which can overcome the above-mentioned complex operating conditions and achieve stable level measurement in coal-fired power plants.
They have been successfully applied in silos, raw coal bunkers, pulverized coal bunkers, ash removal systems, desulfurization and denitrification systems, and turbine power generation systems in coal storage yards. Below, we will showcase the products of RETTAR for three typical application scenarios.
Level Measurement in Raw Coal Bunkers and Pulverized Coal Bunkers
Measurement Challenges
1. Raw coal bunkers are generally high, about 30-40 meters, and the height of pulverized coal bunkers is also about 10 meters.
2. A large amount of dust is generated during feeding and discharging, which has strong adhesion and affects measurement, leading to high maintenance costs.
3. The dielectric constant of coal powder is very low, resulting in weak signal reflection capability.
Instrument Selection: CPR6800 Solid Parabolic Radar Level Meter
Product Advantages
1. The CPR6800 solid parabolic antenna has a large size, which enhances its anti-adhesion performance. It can achieve maintenance-free operation in some lightly adhered silos, effectively extending the cleaning and maintenance period for personnel.
2. With a transmission frequency of 26GHz and a small beam angle, it has strong penetration ability and can measure media with very low dielectric constants.
3. It has strong anti-interference capability and a powerful algorithm for continuous measurement during wave loss. Even in strong dust conditions, a short-term wave loss will not result in measurement result misjudgment.
4. The radar-specific HART communicator allows remote debugging and basic parameter settings of the radar in the central control room. It can also observe the radar's echo curve, greatly improving work efficiency.
Level Measurement in Lime Slurry and Chemical Water Tanks
Measurement Challenges
1. Lime slurry mainly consists of lime powder and water, with high temperature and a large amount of steam during boiling.
2. A large amount of steam rises to the antenna and forms condensation water. In cold weather in the northern regions, the condensation water is prone to freezing.
3. Chemical water is generally acidic or alkaline, and some liquids have strong corrosiveness, which can easily corrode the radar antenna and damage the instrument.
Instrument Selection: CPR6100 Liquid Rod Radar Level Meter
Product Advantages
1. The antenna adopts a horn mouth structure with a cone-shaped sealing design at the bottom, allowing condensation water to naturally flow down along the cone tip, effectively overcoming the influence of condensation on measurement.
2. It uses corrosion-resistant materials suitable for measuring strong corrosive liquids.
3. Equipped with filtering function, it effectively improves the stability of instrument measurement.
Level Measurement in High-temperature Heaters
Measurement Challenges
1. The pressure of high-temperature heaters is 25 bar, and the temperature is 200°C.
2. The heat exchange medium is the steam coming out of the turbine. For units of different scales, there can be significant differences in temperature and pressure, with temperatures reaching up to 300°C.
Instrument Selection: CGR8600 High-temperature and High-pressure Level and Interface Meter
Product Advantages
1. It adopts a coaxial probe and graphite ceramic sealing with a heat dissipation structure design, with a maximum temperature resistance of 450°C.
2. It can automatically perform dynamic gas phase compensation and dynamic temperature compensation for measurement conditions in special high-temperature and high-pressure environments, ensuring instrument accuracy.
3. It uses a guided wave probe with multiple fixed-distance reference reflectors, which effectively reduces errors caused by different pressures and provides higher accuracy compared to single reference point guided wave radar.
Due to the diverse types of media in power plants and the wide range of testing conditions and environments, different level measurement instruments should be selected for different usage scenarios to meet the corresponding measurement requirements.
RETTAR has devoted 17 years to the research and development and production of level measurement products, accumulating a wealth of practical experience.
